Children can add a note to the “water” tucked inside the watering can. Under the flower pot’s petals, they can write the qualities they love most about their mom.

Materials Required
- Coloring Materials – we used paint for the templates, but you can choose whichever art supplies you have available. Markers, crayons, and colored pencils work beautifully too.
- Adhesive – a glue stick can be used to assemble the flower pot templates

How to Create the Watering Can & Flower Pot
1. Print the templates.
You can request the template through email near the end of this post.
2. Cut out each template.
Note: the dotted line on the watering can shows where the paper should pass through. Adults may find an X-acto knife useful for cutting this opening. Cut it to exactly match the paper’s width so the insert stays in place without slipping. If it does become loose, secure it with tape or glue.
3. Paint or decorate the templates.
We painted ours, although markers, crayons, and colored pencils are suitable choices. Kids can also add their own designs and decorative patterns.
4. Add words to the bottom flower
Cut out the flower and stem, writing one word on each petal. For this piece, only the stem requires coloring.
Color the flower-only piece, then glue it to the flower-and-stem piece at the center only.
Leave the top petals free to lift, allowing the messages underneath to remain visible.
Use glue to join the flower pot to the stem.
5. Decorate the paper water for the watering can and add a message.
6. Add faces or other creative details to the cards.
We used oversized googly eyes, created cheeks with the end of a pencil (the handle of a paintbrush works too), and added smiles with a black marker.
7. Slide the water paper into the watering can.
If the opening is cut too wide and the paper slips through, fasten it with tape or glue (though it will no longer slide in and out)
