Snail Sensory Bag – Sensory Activity for Kids

Kids can easily make this sensory bag their own! Encourage them to color the snail with crayons, markers, paint, or any combination of their favorite colors. Small beads may also be used instead of pom poms.
Supplies For Creating a Snail Sensory Bag
- Sealed Bag– we selectedLarge Ziploc Bags
- Clear Hair Gel – the amount needed depends on the bottle size, so you may want one or two containers. An affordable option from a dollar store works well. Clear shampoo or body wash can be substituted, but these products generally create more bubbles inside the bag.
- Small pom poms
- Coloring supply – we chose markers, but crayons, colored pencils, and paint can all be used to decorate the template.

Instructions For Making a Snail Sensory Bag
1. Print off the template. To get the template, pre-order my new book and contact me through our website page HERE or Instagram. Be sure to include a screenshot showing your pre-order.
2. Start by coloring the snail template. Markers were used in the sample shown here.
Once it is colored, cut around the design.
3. Add clear hair gel to the bag, using enough to let the pom poms glide around easily. Clear shampoo or body wash is another option, although it may leave more bubbles in the sensory bag.
4. Put the pom poms into the bag. If they do not move smoothly, add a little more hair gel.
5. Press the bag closed and check that it is sealed.
For younger children, reinforce the opening with extra duct tape so they cannot easily get inside. Always supervise children while they play with small materials.
Tape the snail template and the sensory bag together to hold everythingfrom moving around.
The activity is ready to go! Kids can slide the pom poms across the snail’s shell, creating a fun spiral pattern as they play.
This playful activity also helps strengthen fine motor skills.
