Children will love making this Earth Day paper plate wreath to celebrate Earth Day this year. They can have fun coloring and decorating the different printable designs, too. This easy craft is a great starting point for discussing Earth Day and simple ways to look after our planet.
This Earth Day paper plate wreath requires a free printable template, a single paper plate, and a few basic coloring supplies.
You could also print the templates onto colored paper before cutting them out and gluing them to the plate. For an even greener activity, choose recycled paper for your printed designs.
A length of ribbon or twine makes it simple to hang your finished wreath.

Making a Paper Earth Day Wreath
1. Print the complimentary printable patterns.
You’ll find the free printable patterns at the end of this post, within the form that shows a preview of the designs.
2. Add color to the patterns.
For a wreath covered as pictured, color all eight of the designs. Feel free to choose more or fewer depending on the look you want.
Once the coloring is complete, carefully cut out each design.
3. Cut out the center of a paper plate.
Begin by removing the center of the plate. Gently fold the plate to make a small opening, then slide the scissors into the slit and cut out the middle.
4. Paint the paper plate.
Painting is optional, but some of the plate could show through depending on how you arrange the printable patterns.
5. Glue the patterns onto the paper plate.
Spread glue over each pattern and press it onto the plate. If you choose not to color all eight designs, arrange fewer pieces with larger gaps between them.
6. Add a twine loop to the back for hanging.
Attach the twine to the back with tape, creating a loop for displaying the wreath.
