Picking a favorite monster handprint card is difficult, but the red design might be our top choice. The orange monster is a close runner-up. Those silly googly eyes are so much fun! Children can personalize this craft in countless ways by mixing colors, eye sizes, and pom-poms. Your little monster will have a wonderful time creating a creature of their own!
Supplies Needed
- Colored cardstock – red, orange, purple, white, and green cardstock – we prefer cardstock for handmade cards because it is more durable
- Pom Poms – we used orange, purple, and green pom-poms
- Glue – use tacky glue, glue dots, or hot glue (adults only) for attaching the pom-poms and googly eyes

How to Create a Monster Handprint
1. Start by folding the cardstock in half.
2. Place your wrist across the folded edge of the cardstock, then trace around your hand to form the card.
3. Cut along the hand outline, rounding the top portion of the card as you go.
4. Once the handprint has been cut out, add googly eyes in different sizes. We made some cards with the fingers pointing up and others with the fingers directed down. Either arrangement creates a delightfully monstrous character!
Purple Monster – use one large googly eye
Red Monster – use one large eye and one medium-sized eye
Orange Monster – use three small googly eyes
Green Monster – Place one medium-sized eye in the center and two smaller eyes beside it
5. Draw a mouth next, then embellish the monster with more pom-poms and googly eyes!
On the orange monster, we glued a large pom-pom to the top of the card and gave it a straight mouth.
Tip: Tacky glue works well for attaching pom-poms and googly eyes.
For the purple monster, we added a happy smile and placed one eye on each finger.
The green monster received a pom-pom on every finger and a circular mouth.
We also gave the red monster a straight mouth.
6. To make teeth for the orange and red monsters, cut a few small triangles from white cardstock and glue them along the mouth.
7. Write a message inside each card. One of our favorite greetings is, “Love, your Little Monster!”.
This monster craft is wonderfully simple to make! The best part is that children can invent their own unique creatures. Put the supplies within reach and let their imaginations take over!
